City Property Tax Payment Guidelines for 2024

City property taxes are due by December 31, 2024, to avoid interest charges.

City Treasurer Erin Tucker has announced that property taxes for the City of Murfreesboro are due on December 31, 2024. Property owners are encouraged to make their payments by this date to avoid incurring interest charges.

The property tax bills for the year 2024 were mailed out on September 30, 2024, and the information was also made available on the City’s website starting October 1, 2024. Taxes that are paid or postmarked after December 31, 2024, will be subject to an interest charge that accrues from January 1, 2025, at a rate of 1.5% per month or for any part of a month until the taxes are paid.

Payments can be made using cash, check, or credit card. It is important to note that bank counter checks and two-party checks are not accepted. An online payment option is available through the City’s website at www.murfreesborotntax.com. This online portal allows taxpayers to pay using PayPal®, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover credit/debit cards, or Catalis Payment Services with an e-check. A convenience fee of approximately 2.50% plus $0.30 will apply to credit/debit card transactions, while e-checks have a flat fee of $1.50.

For those paying by mail, payments should be addressed to the City of Murfreesboro and sent to P.O. Box 1139, Murfreesboro, TN 37133-1139. In-person payments can be made at City Hall, located at 111 West Vine St., on the first floor of the Finance Department. Office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Partial payments are accepted.

The City participates in the State of Tennessee Tax Freeze program. Low-income senior citizens aged 65 and older, or disabled veterans, may qualify for the State of Tennessee Property Tax Relief program, which provides a reduction in property taxes.
