Bicentennial Capitol Mall Hosts Living History Event

Tennessee Timeline event showcases state's history through engaging storytelling.

Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park in Nashville will host the Tennessee Timeline, a living history event, on Saturday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event offers visitors an opportunity to explore significant events in Tennessee’s history, such as the Civil War and Prohibition, through engaging stories and costumed interpreters.

Located in the shadow of the Tennessee State Capitol, the park features a 1,400-foot Pathway of History, which will be brought to life with historical narratives. The event is free and designed to be family-friendly.

In addition to the Tennessee Timeline, visitors can enjoy a full day of activities in the area. Nearby attractions include the Nashville Farmers’ Market, the Tennessee State Museum, and the Tennessee State Library and Archives. The Southern Festival of Books will also be taking place at the park over the weekend, offering author discussions and a variety of booksellers.

Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park was established as a monument to Tennessee’s Bicentennial Celebration on June 1, 1996. The 20-acre park provides visitors with various historical experiences, including a 200-foot granite map of the state, a World War II Memorial, a 95-bell carillon, and the Rivers of Tennessee Fountains.

The park is located north of the Capitol, between James Robertson Parkway and Jefferson Street, and between 6th and 7th avenues in downtown Nashville.
