Detectives have successfully apprehended a suspect in connection with the murder of Alyssa Lokits, 34, that occurred on the Mill Creek Greenway in Nashville. The incident, which took place less than 24 hours prior to the arrest, involved Lokits being attacked by an apparent stranger.
Paul S. Park, 29, from Brentwood, was identified as the suspect following intensive investigations by the Homicide and Specialized Investigations Division. An arrest warrant for criminal homicide was issued shortly after 3 p.m., and Park was detained minutes later while driving along Autumn Crossing Way in Davidson County.
The investigation revealed that Lokits was walking along the greenway path when Park emerged from between two parked vehicles and followed her. Witnesses reported hearing a woman scream for help, followed by gunfire. Park was observed returning to his gray BMW sedan with visible scratches on his arms and blood on his clothing.
A significant breakthrough in the case came from a local resident who provided police with dashcam footage, capturing clear images of Park and part of the BMW. This footage, along with a partial license plate tag provided by a witness, was crucial in identifying Park.
Further, Homicide Detective Shannon Forsyth recognized Park from a photo taken by the dashcam, connecting him as the identical twin of an individual involved in a previous case she had worked on. Detectives set up surveillance at Park’s residence and arrested him after he left his home.
At present, Park is being interviewed at police headquarters and will be officially booked on the homicide charge later.
