Officers from the Madison Precinct, in collaboration with Burglary Section detectives, arrested 36-year-old Edgar Easu earlier today. Easu, who has been out on bond since July, was apprehended for an attempted burglary at a business on Gallatin Pike North.
The arrest occurred after officers responded to a commercial burglary alarm at 2:15 a.m. Upon arrival, they found damage to the glass door of the business. The suspect had fled the scene in a gray Toyota Tundra after triggering the alarm. Surveillance footage enabled officers to identify the vehicle as being registered to a nearby residence on Wiley Street.
When officers visited the residence, they found Easu wearing the same clothes as seen in the video, and the Tundra, still warm, was parked in the driveway.
Easu has a history of burglary-related charges. He was previously arrested in February 2023 on 37 burglary charges and indictments, which are still pending. In September 2023, he was convicted of assault for firing a BB gun at another individual, resulting in a supervised probation sentence.
During a search of Easu’s home today, police recovered 13 liquor bottles believed to have been stolen from local businesses. Easu is now charged with attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools. He is being held on a $75,000 bond, with additional charges expected.
