Alba’s Empanadas, a new takeout window, is set to open its doors this week in The Gulch, Nashville, Tennessee. Located next to the Golden Sound cocktail bar on Magazine Street, this establishment offers a convenient option for guests to enjoy empanadas either to-go or via delivery. This launch marks the first brick-and-mortar location for Alba’s Empanadas, which initially gained popularity through pop-ups in Los Angeles.
The venture is a collaborative effort by Adept Hospitality, known for dynamic concepts like Golden Sound and Sushi | Bar, and Jah Landis, a community tastemaker and musician from Los Angeles, also known as Roofeeo. Alba’s Empanadas is a heartfelt project named in honor of Jah’s mother, whose influence was significant in his culinary journey. Her passing in 2018 motivated Jah to refine his cooking skills, leading to the creation of Jah Mama’s Hot Sauce, a tribute to the homemade sauce from his childhood that quickly gained a following.

At Alba’s, customers can enjoy Jah Mama’s Hot Sauce featured on most empanadas, along with Jah’s interpretation of his mother’s beloved empanada recipe. The menu includes four signature empanadas: Jah Mama Chicken, Wagyu Steak, Jah Mama Mushroom, and Cheese. Sides include yellow rice, mixed green salad, fried sweet plantains, and a sweet potato empanada for dessert.
