Alan Farley Discusses 2024 Election on “The Insider

Alan Farley talks election preparations for Rutherford County on "The Insider" podcast.

Alan Farley, the Election Administrator for Rutherford County, was recently featured on “The Insider,” where he discussed various aspects of the upcoming 2024 election with host Mike Browning. The conversation covered topics such as election integrity, early voting, and absentee mail-in ballots.

Rutherford County voters will head to the polls on November 5, 2024. Early voting is scheduled from October 16 to October 31, allowing registered voters to cast their ballots in person at the Rutherford County Election Commission office or designated satellite locations. In the 2020 election, 83% of Rutherford County voters participated in early voting.

For those opting for absentee voting, the deadline to request a mail-in ballot is October 29, 2024. The completed ballot must be signed and received by November 5 to be counted. Voters must return their ballots by mail with the appropriate postage to ensure they arrive before the polls close at 7 p.m. on Election Day.

Voters are required to present a federal or state-issued photo ID, such as a U.S. passport, Tennessee driver’s license, military ID, or handgun carry permit. Two new polling locations have been added since the 2020 election to accommodate the growing population on Murfreesboro’s west side. A total of 30 polling locations will require over 400 election day poll workers.

Tennessee has been recognized as the top state in the nation for election integrity for three consecutive years, thanks in part to its stringent election laws and processes. Interested individuals can find more information about the Rutherford County Election Commission and opportunities for poll worker training at www.ruco.vote or by calling 615-898-7743.

Farley projects that 72% of the more than 224,000 registered voters in Rutherford County will participate in the 2024 election, with an expected turnout of 160,000 to 165,000 voters.
