Woman Arrested for Reckless Endangerment After School Bus Incident

A woman was charged with reckless endangerment after waving a handgun during a school bus altercation.

Angela Sweeney, 36, was charged with reckless endangerment following an incident involving her daughter on a school bus transporting McGavock High School students. The altercation on the bus began when students engaged in a fight, and one student used pepper spray on others. The bus driver stopped the vehicle at Lisa Lane and Lebanon Pike to address the situation.

As medics attended to a student affected by the pepper spray, Sweeney arrived and attempted to board the bus but was stopped by the driver. Upset that her daughter had been pepper sprayed, Sweeney retrieved a handgun from her car and waved it around, although she did not point it at anyone. She then left the scene.

Responding officers intercepted Sweeney on Lebanon Pike, taking her into custody without incident and recovering the handgun. Aside from the pepper spray exposure, no injuries were reported.
