Two Teens Charged After Hit & Run Crash

Two teens face charges after a hit-and-run crash involving a stolen vehicle and a pedestrian.

Two suspects, Deshawn Horn, 18, and a 17-year-old female, are charged with several offenses following a hit-and-run crash that took place on Monday at 6:30 a.m. on Commerce Street at Representative John Lewis Way.

After striking a pedestrian, Horn and the female fled on foot from a 2022 Kia Sportage, which had been stolen the previous night from a parking lot at 1 Titans Way. The injured pedestrian, an adult female, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Central Precinct officers utilized the downtown camera system to track the suspects. They were later apprehended outside the Walmart at 3458 Dickerson Pike. Horn faces charges including vehicle theft, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, failure to render aid/give notice, driving without a license/insurance, and drug possession. He is being held on a $61,000 bond. The 17-year-old female is charged in Juvenile Court with vehicle theft, failure to render aid/give notice, and leaving the scene of an accident.

The investigation continues into the teens’ potential involvement in additional thefts.
