Tennessee Board of Regents to Meet at Dyersburg State

The Tennessee Board of Regents will hold its quarterly meeting on Sept. 19-20 at Dyersburg State Community College.

The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) is set to conduct its regular quarterly meeting at Dyersburg State Community College on September 19-20, 2024. The meeting will include both committee gatherings and a full board session.

The Board oversees public community colleges and colleges of applied technology in Tennessee. The committee meetings will commence on September 19 at 1 p.m. CT, starting with the Committee on Academic Policies and Programs and Student Life. This will be followed by sessions from the Committee on Personnel and Compensation, the Committee on Workforce Development, the Committee on External Affairs, and the Committee on Finance and Business Operations.

On September 20, the full board will convene at 9 a.m. CT. Presentations by Dyersburg State President Scott Cook and Presidents John Penn Ridgeway of TCAT Henry/Carroll and Youlanda Jones of TCAT Northwest will precede the official business meeting scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. or after the presentations conclude.

All sessions will be held in the FCNB Auditorium of Dr. Carl Christian Andersen Hall on DSCC’s main campus, located at 1510 Lake Road, Dyersburg, TN 38024. The public is welcome to attend, and the sessions will be live-streamed and archived on the TBR website at TBR Meeting Link. Key items on the agenda include the appointment of the next president of TCAT Jackson, policy revisions, and reports from previous committee meetings. Two finalists have been shortlisted for the presidency: John Hodgson, Vice President of Workforce Development at TCAT Jackson, and JacQuene Rainey, Vice President of Academic Affairs at TCAT Northwest. Following public interviews, TBR Chancellor Flora W. Tydings will recommend a candidate to the board.

Committee discussions on September 19 will cover proposed actions, updates on new programs, student success reports, workforce training hours, legislative priorities, and more. Policy revisions to be considered include updates to various TBR policies such as General Education Requirements and Degree Requirements, and Advertising, among others.

Roadwork Updates for East and Middle Tennessee

The Tennessee Department of Transportation has released its Roadway Activity Report for Region 2, detailing various roadwork projects scheduled for September 12-18, 2024, in East and Middle Tennessee, including lane closures, traffic stoppages, and detours across multiple counties.
