Teen Dies Following Accidental Shooting Incident

A 15-year-old boy died after an accidental shooting involving a pistol in Nashville.

A 15-year-old boy, Bentley Delancy, who was critically wounded in the neck late Friday afternoon in an apparent accidental shooting, has died. The incident occurred while Delancy and a 16-year-old were handling a semi-automatic pistol inside an apartment on British Woods Drive.

According to reports, Delancy was visiting the 16-year-old when they began playing with the firearm, which belonged to an 18-year-old. The gun discharged, striking Delancy in the neck. The 16-year-old administered first aid until emergency services arrived. Delancy was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night.

The Youth Services Division of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is conducting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and how the teens gained access to the pistol.

Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting Case

Homicide detectives have charged Jabaree Q. Jones, 19, with criminal homicide for the fatal shooting of Charmaine Goodloe, 34, on August 26 at Overlook Ridge Apartments in Nashville. The victim was shot while sitting with a friend and later died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Jones was identified as being present in the suspect vehicle and was arrested by detectives. Further arrests are expected in connection with this case.
