Student Charged with Making Threats at Stratford MS

8th grader at Stratford STEM Magnet Middle School charged with threatening mass violence.

A 13-year-old 8th grade male student at Stratford STEM Magnet Middle School has been charged with making a threat of mass violence. The student reportedly informed a teacher about his plan to “shoot up” the school. School Resource Officers responded promptly and took the student into custody.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) emphasizes that threats against schools, special events, and businesses are taken very seriously. Individuals responsible for such threats will face prosecution once identified.

Investigation of Nashville Teen Shooting Incident

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is investigating a shooting on Smith Springs Road where a 17-year-old male was wounded after allegedly robbing a 20-year-old man at gunpoint. The 20-year-old, who reported the incident through his mother, claimed self-defense and has not been charged. The case will be reviewed with the District Attorney’s Office.
