Roadway Activity Report for East and Middle Tennessee

Overview of scheduled roadwork in East and Middle Tennessee for September 12-18, 2024.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has released its Roadway Activity Report for Region 2, covering parts of East and Middle Tennessee, for the week of September 12-18, 2024. Motorists are advised to be aware of the following roadwork activities and plan their travel accordingly:

**District 27**

**Cumberland County:**

– **I-40 Utility Work:** Rolling roadblocks from MM 304.4 to MM 327 on September 15, 2024, from 6 AM to 11 AM. Rain date: September 22, 2024.

– **SR-28 (US-127) Bridge Construction:** Temporary lane closures and periodic traffic stoppages from north of I-40 to near Potato Farm Road.

– **SR-1 (US-70 W.) Utility Work:** Lane closures both directions from Glade Creek Rd to Old Ridge Rd until September 30, 2024.

– **SR-101 (Peavine Rd.) Utility Work:** Flagging operations from North of I-40 to Dartmoor-Snead Drive until September 30, 2024.

– **SR-68 Utility Work:** Intermittent stoppages and lane closures from Cox Valley Road to Old Grandview Hwy until September 30, 2024.

– **SR-1 (US-70) Bridge Construction:** Road closed at the Obed River bridge with detours in place.

**Dekalb County:**

– **SR-26 (US-70) Construction:** Grading, drainage, retaining walls, and paving from near SR-53 to near SR-96 with temporary lane closures.

**Fentress County:**

– **SR-52 Maintenance:** Drainage structure repairs causing shoulder closures between Stewart St. and E Mark Twain Ave.

**Jackson County:**

– **SR-135 Rockfall Mitigation:** Road closed from LM 6.31 to 7.76 for rockfall work. Detours in place.

**Pickett County:**

– **SR-111 Resurfacing:** Paving operations starting the week of September 16, 2024, with flagging operations.

**Putnam County:**

– **SR-136 Construction:** Temporary lane closures and periodic traffic stoppages from north of the SR-111 interchange to south of the I-40 interchange.

– **I-40 Final Work:** Installation of permanent roadway markings from MM 274 to MM 281, with potential lane closures.

**District 28**

**Bledsoe County:**

– **SR-28 Maintenance:** Road reduced to one lane from LM 15.2 to LM 15.4.

– **SR-285 Resurfacing:** Single lane closures controlled by flaggers from the Van Buren County Line to SR-101.

**Coffee County:**

– **I-24 Overpass Construction:** Rolling roadblocks on September 12, 2024, between 9 AM and 12 PM for utility line work.

**Franklin County:**

– **Old Decherd Road Bridge Construction:** Road closed at Wagner Creek for bridge replacement with detours in place.

**Hamilton County:**

– **I-75/I-24 Interchange Reconstruction:** Nightly lane closures from 9 PM to 6 AM between Exit 1 (East Ridge) and Exit 3A (East Brainerd Road/SR-320).

– **SR-2 Maintenance:** Quarterly testing and inspection of the Chief John Ross Bridge on September 15, 2024, from 8 AM to 12 PM.

**Region-Wide:**

– **Crack Sealing:** Mobile closure operations for crack sealing across various state routes.

– **Guardrail Repair:** Short-term shoulder and lane closures for guardrail repair across various routes.

– **SmartWay System Maintenance:** Short-term closures for maintenance of the SmartWay Intelligent Transportation System.
