Phase 3a of the War Memorial and Legislative Plaza closure starts on October 7, 2024.

The Department of General Services (DGS) will commence Phase 3a of the War Memorial and Legislative Plaza Closure Plan on October 7, 2024. This phase involves extending the fence enclosure to cover the remaining areas around the Legislative Plaza and War Memorial buildings. The fencing will remain in place for the duration of the project.

As part of this phase, the northbound lane of 7th Avenue will stay closed. Drivers are advised to use 6th Avenue or Rosa Parks Avenue from Union Street as alternative routes. Additionally, 7th Avenue will undergo a complete closure for approximately two weeks towards the end of October. Further details will be provided as the closure date approaches.

Access to the Capitol will continue through the Motlow Tunnel on MLK Boulevard until Phase 3b begins in January 2025.
