The Music City Walk of Fame, an initiative by the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp, will induct several notable figures in a ceremony on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Music City Walk of Fame Park. This year’s honorees include the celebrated musician Jimmy Buffett, the iconic gospel group The Fairfield Four, Colin Reed of Ryman Hospitality Properties, and Bill Cody, a revered Grand Ole Opry announcer. The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which will commemorate the Grand Ole Opry’s 100th anniversary by recognizing Reed and Cody.
Jimmy Buffett, who passed away on September 1, 2023, will be inducted posthumously. Buffett was known for his “tropical troubadour” style and hits like “Margaritaville.” Mac McAnally, a longtime member of Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, will induct him.
The Fairfield Four, a gospel quartet known for their a cappella harmonies, will also be honored. Shannon Sanders, a notable songwriter and producer, will induct them. The group has received multiple GRAMMY Awards and Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Colin Reed, the Executive Chairman of Ryman Hospitality Properties, has significantly contributed to Nashville’s hospitality industry, including reopening the Grand Ole Opry after the 2010 flood. Bill Cody, a long-time Grand Ole Opry host and Music City Walk of Fame emcee, will also be recognized for his contributions to Nashville’s music legacy.
The Walk of Fame, established in 2006, features sidewalk medallions with the names of inductees along Nashville’s Music Mile. It is a project of Music City Inc., the charitable foundation of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp, with support from Gibson and other partners.
