Mistaken Identity Leads to Alleged Kidnapping Incident

An alleged kidnapping incident involving a 15-year-old girl was found to be a case of mistaken identity.

Youth Services detectives are investigating an alleged attempted kidnapping incident involving a 15-year-old girl that occurred on Thursday. The incident took place at the intersection of Penny Brink Drive and Bart Drive, where a van matching the description of the suspect vehicle was spotted this morning.

A male passenger exited the vehicle at the same location and time as the previous day, walking along the same path. The van then left the area but was soon stopped by a patrol officer.

During interviews, the van’s driver, a female, and two male passengers explained that one of the males is regularly dropped off at this location to pick up his truck for work. They confirmed they were in the vehicle the previous day. As soon as the passenger exited the minivan, the teen at the bus stop began running away and screaming. The driver continued on, unsure why the girl had fled.

The teen reported that she was alone at the bus stop in the dark, which was unusual for her. She felt nervous when the man got out of the minivan.
