Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Nashville Shooting

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting that injured a 13-year-old girl.

Detectives have charged Steven V. Harvey, 20, with attempted criminal homicide in connection with a shooting that occurred Thursday night on University Court in the Napier-Sudekum community. The incident resulted in critical injuries to a 13-year-old girl, who was an innocent bystander.

Officers were dispatched to the scene shortly after 7 p.m. following reports of a teenage girl suffering from a gunshot wound to her lower back. A swift investigation led Hermitage Precinct officers to an apartment on Charles E. Davis Boulevard, where Harvey was located and detained.

The investigation revealed that Harvey was involved in a fight with another man, which escalated as others joined in. During the altercation, Harvey pulled out a firearm and discharged it towards the crowd, resulting in the injury to the 13-year-old girl.

During an interview with detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division, Harvey admitted to firing the shots. In addition to the charge of attempted criminal homicide, he is also facing charges of unlawful gun possession during the commission of a dangerous felony. A judicial commissioner has set his bond at $125,000.
