Gunman Sought in Road Rage Incident That Killed Dog

Police are searching for the gunman involved in a suspected road rage shooting that killed a dog.

Hermitage Precinct detectives are working to identify the gunman responsible for a suspected road rage incident that occurred Wednesday at 11:20 p.m. Shots were fired into a victim’s vehicle, fatally wounding his German Shepherd in the back seat.

The victim reported driving northbound on Bell Road near Smith Springs Road when a black Dodge Ram pickup truck began following him closely, presumably wanting to pass. When the victim stopped at a red light in the left turn lane, the suspect, described as a white or possibly Hispanic man, pointed a gun and fired at the passenger’s side, shattering the back window. The victim ducked and pulled into a subdivision, discovering his dog had been shot.

The suspect fled northbound on Bell Road. Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
