Driver Killed in Murfreesboro Pike Crash Identified

A driver was killed in a head-on collision on Murfreesboro Pike near Mt. View Road.

The driver of a Ford Transit van killed in a crash on Murfreesboro Pike near Mt. View Road has been identified as Walter Guillermo Hidalgo-Gonzalez, 41, of LaVergne. The accident occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a Honda Civic traveling outbound crossed the center turning lane and struck the Ford van head-on. Hidalgo-Gonzalez was transported to Southern Hills Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the Honda, identified as 18-year-old Fredy Hernandez Escalante, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Escalante will face charges for driving without a license or insurance upon his release from the hospital.

Authorities report that there were no signs of impairment from either driver.

Missouri Man Killed in I-24 Crash

Michael Snyder, 61, from El Dorado Springs, Missouri, was identified as the victim in a fatal crash on I-24 West near Whites Creek Pike. Snyder and his wife were towing a camper trailer when their vehicle veered off the road and overturned. Snyder died at Skyline Medical Center, while his wife remains in stable condition.
