Detectives Investigate WeGo Bus Stop Vandalism

Authorities are identifying suspects linked to vandalism of WeGo bus shelters in Nashville.

Community Crimes Investigations detectives are actively working to identify the individuals responsible for vandalizing multiple WeGo bus shelters in Nashville. The suspects are believed to be traveling in a red or maroon car.

The incidents began just before midnight on Saturday, when shots, possibly from a pellet gun, were fired at a bus stop in the 600 block of Gallatin Pike South. Witnesses reported that the shots came from the suspect vehicle, shattering the glass of the bus shelter.

In the past three weeks, up to 50 WeGo bus shelters have been damaged, with 20 incidents occurring this past weekend alone. The vandalism has led to the partial or total shattering of the glass enclosures around the bus stops.

The majority of the damage has been concentrated along Gallatin Pike in East Nashville and 12th Avenue South in Edgehill. Additional incidents have been reported in downtown, Madison, Germantown, West End Avenue, and South Nashville.

Efforts are underway to repair the damaged bus shelters, with many already fixed or scheduled for repairs. In response to the vandalism, additional police patrols will be present along the bus route corridors to prevent further incidents.

Anyone with information about the car, its occupants, or the vandalism is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
