As neighborhoods across the city prepare to celebrate National Night Out on October 1, 2024, city leaders are organizing a city-wide kick-off event. This inaugural celebration will take place from 4-6 p.m. at the Public Safety Building, located at 1650 Huron Street. The event aims to bring residents together in a festive atmosphere, offering free food, games, and giveaways.
The kick-off celebration provides an opportunity for families to interact with police officers and firefighters at the Public Safety Complex. Attendees can explore fire trucks and police vehicles and may even get a chance to dunk some familiar faces in a dunk tank.
The event will commence at 4 p.m., allowing community members to participate in the city-wide kick-off and still partake in their neighborhood-specific events later in the evening.
“We are so excited to be able to offer an event that everyone can attend,” said Mayor Indya Kincannon. “National Night Out is a wonderful way for neighbors to get to know our police officers and firefighters, but not every neighborhood is able to plan their own celebration. I hope this city-wide kick-off party becomes an annual tradition.”
