Homicide detectives have charged Raphael Jobehdari, 18, with the murder of Zepplenin Phillips, 16, which occurred near Phillips’ home on Hallborough Way in Hermitage. Officers responded to the scene at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, finding Phillips lying in the roadway with gunshot wounds. He was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Jobehdari was identified as a suspect during the night after detectives discovered that Phillips had been in communication with him about purchasing a gun and had sent him money. SWAT officers assisted in executing a search warrant at Jobehdari’s residence on Carl Miller Drive. The vehicle that Phillips approached just before the shooting was found at the residence and has been impounded. Additionally, three firearms were seized during the search.
This incident marks the second time this year that Jobehdari has been involved in a fatal shooting. On January 31, he and Gavin Dauzart, 18, exchanged gunfire during a drug-related robbery in a parking lot on Highway 70 South in Bellevue, resulting in Dauzart’s death. Jobehdari, who was shot in the abdomen and leg, claimed self-defense and no charges were filed after a review of the case with the District Attorney’s Office.
