Majority of Stolen Guns in Nashville Taken from Vehicles
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department reports that 621 guns have been stolen from vehicles in Nashville this year, comprising 71% of the 865 total guns stolen in Davidson County in 2024. This is a 29% decrease from the same period last year. A special initiative by MNPD has resulted in 767 arrests, the recovery of 399 stolen vehicles, and the retrieval of 143 guns since February 1st. Vehicle burglaries often accompany vehicle thefts, with many cars being targeted because keys are left inside.
