Three men from Houston, Texas, have been arrested in connection with a significant robbery of a Bank of America ATM in West Nashville. The robbery occurred while a repairman was servicing the machine at 6602 Charlotte Pike just after 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
Rapid coordination between West Precinct officers, Violent Crimes detectives, Kingston Springs Police, the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI, assisted by license plate reader (LPR) technology, led to the arrest of the three suspects in Cheatham County. Thousands of dollars in cash were recovered.
The individuals arrested are Jayveon Q. White, 23, Michael Austin Murphy, 24, and Trevion D. Rice, 24. They are currently held in the Cheatham County Jail on charges of resisting arrest. Aggravated robbery warrants have also been issued against them in Nashville, where they will be booked after the resolution of their charges in Cheatham County.
The suspects allegedly approached the repairman with a gun or a similar object, making him believe they were armed. They demanded that he step away from the machine and quickly stole cash containers from it. The suspects fled west on Charlotte Pike in a white Toyota Camry displaying a Tennessee license plate that had been stolen earlier that day from Antioch.
Approximately 14 minutes later, a license plate reader in Kingston Springs detected the vehicle. Shortly afterward, Kingston Springs police responded to a shots-fired call. The suspects had reportedly pulled behind an old bank building near a woman’s home. After a verbal altercation, the woman fired shots at the car, prompting the suspects to speed away. They were soon spotted by Kingston Springs police and Cheatham County deputies. The suspects abandoned the car and were apprehended shortly after.
The men have criminal histories in Florida and Texas and refused to be interviewed by MNPD detectives and FBI agents. The investigation is ongoing.
