Tennessee Board of Regents Meetings Scheduled for August 27

Tennessee Board of Regents to hold committee meetings on August 27, 2024.

The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) committee chairs will meet on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, to receive informational reports and preview the agenda for the full board’s next quarterly meeting in September. Following this, the board’s Audit Committee will meet to review and discuss various audit matters.

The Board of Regents oversees Tennessee’s public community colleges and colleges of applied technology. The committee chairs will convene at 8:30 a.m. CT/9:30 a.m. ET, with the Audit Committee meeting immediately afterward. Both meetings will be conducted via teleconferencing and will be live-streamed and archived on the TBR website at this link, except for portions of the Audit Committee meeting that are required by state law to remain confidential. Full agendas and materials can be accessed at the provided meeting link. For direct access to the meetings, other than the live stream, individuals can contact Board Secretary Mariah Perry at mariah.perry@tbr.edu or 615-366-3927 by 3 p.m. CT on Monday, August 26.

The committee chairs meeting will be informational, with no votes or official actions. The agenda includes the review of one proposed new TBR policy and revisions to five existing policies, which will be considered by the full Board in September. Additionally, there will be updates on the 2024 SkillsUSA activities, workforce training contact hours, legislative priorities, capital outlay, faculty promotion at Pellissippi State Community College, correction of a previously approved faculty promotion increase at Pellissippi, and outcomes of the 2024 TBR Statewide Workforce Convening.

The proposed new policy addresses Digital Identity, Authentication Management, and Access Control. The proposed policy revisions involve the following TBR policies: General Education Requirements and Degree Requirements (TBR Policy 2.01.00.00), Pregnancy, Childbirth and Related Medical Conditions (TBR Policy 6.04.00.00), Advertising (TBR Policy 9.01.03.00), Approvals of Agreements and Contracts (TBR Policy 4.02.01.00), and Personally Identifiable Information (TBR Policy 1.08.04.00). Details of these proposed policy actions are available in the board materials, downloadable at the committee chairs meeting link.

The next quarterly meeting of the Board of Regents is scheduled for September 19-20 at Dyersburg State Community College. Agendas and materials for that meeting will be posted later at this link.

The Audit Committee meeting will include both informational reports and action items. The agenda covers Fiscal Year 2024 fourth-quarter audit highlights, system-wide internal audit updates, fiscal year 2024 year-end status reports, fiscal year 2025 internal audit plans, review of internal audit charters, and review of charters, responsibilities, and standards.

Persons interested in addressing the Board may follow the authorized process detailed in TBR Policy 1.02.12.00 – Requests to Address the Board, accessible here.
