Teacher Arrested for Sexual Battery in Nashville

Teacher arrested for sexual battery, additional charges expected.

Youth Services detectives have arrested Michael Ligon, 36, from Clarksville, on a charge of sexual battery by an authority figure. This arrest follows a report by a 13-year-old student who alleged inappropriate behavior by Ligon while he was employed as a teacher at Stem Preparatory Academy during the last school year. The student reported that Ligon had fondled and kissed her at school.

The investigation, led by Detective Matthew Mrowiec, began in April and uncovered that multiple other students experienced similar inappropriate interactions. Following the initial accusation, Stem Preparatory Academy placed Ligon on paid administrative leave. Despite this, Ligon was hired by Kipp Academy in July but was terminated from his position today.

Ligon is currently being held on a $75,000 bond, and additional charges are anticipated. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding Ligon’s behavior around minors is encouraged to contact the MNPD’s Youth Services Division at 615-862-7417.
