Suspect Arrested in Burglary Case, Second Suspect Sought

James Briggs arrested for burglary, Elijah Kodjo still at large.

Specialized Investigations Division detectives have arrested James Briggs, 27, who was listed among the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s Most Wanted suspects. The arrest took place on South Street in connection with a burglary that occurred on July 25th in a Sylvan Street home.

Briggs, a resident of Hendersonville, allegedly entered the victims’ apartment at 1:30 a.m. by removing the bedroom window air conditioning unit. He then fired shots at one of the victims in what appeared to be a case of mistaken identity. The victim was not hit by the gunfire and informed Briggs that his family, which included four grandchildren, was in the other room. Briggs reportedly yelled “wrong house, wrong house” out the window to an accomplice and fled the scene.

The second suspect has been identified as Elijah Kodjo, 33. Kodjo is currently wanted on outstanding warrants for aggravated burglary and aggravated assault. Authorities are asking anyone with information on Kodjo’s whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.

James Briggs faces charges including aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, felony weapon possession, and six counts of reckless endangerment. He is being held on a $195,000 bond.
