Roadway Activity Report for East and Middle Tennessee

Construction and maintenance activities in East and Middle Tennessee for August 1-7, 2024.

**DISTRICT 27**

In Cumberland County, numerous road projects are underway. SR-28 (US-127) bridge construction and paving from north of I-40 to near Potato Farm Road will involve temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages. North Grace Hill Drive is closed at SR-28, and motorists are advised to use South Grace Hill Drive as a detour. Utility work on SR-1 (US-70 W.) and SR-24 (US-70 N.) will cause intermittent stoppages and lane closures. The SR-1 (US-70) bridge over the Obed River is being replaced, necessitating a road closure and detour via Northside Drive (SR-462).

Other ongoing projects include resurfacing on SR-1 and SR-101, pedestrian improvements on SR-28 (Main Street), and various construction activities on SR-28, SR-68, SR-462, and SR-127. In Dekalb County, roadwork on SR-26 will include temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages. Jackson County will see rockfall mitigation on SR-135 and resurfacing on SR-53 and SR-56. Bridge repair on SR-85 will reduce the road to one lane controlled by temporary traffic signals.

In Putnam County, SR-136 construction will involve temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages. Pigeon Roost Creek Road and Messenger Road are closed at SR-136, and the turning lane serving Prescott South Middle School is out of service. I-40 and SR-24 will also experience lane reductions and flagging operations for resurfacing and paving.

**DISTRICT 28**

Bledsoe County will see resurfacing on SR-285 and SR-301, involving single lane closures controlled by flaggers. In Coffee County, I-24 will have traffic control set up for paving, and various utility works on SR-55 will cause lane closures. SR-55 bridge repair over the Little Duck River will reduce lanes to one in each direction. Franklin County’s Old Decherd Road is closed at Wagner Creek for bridge replacement, with a detour in place.

Marion County will have lane closures on I-24 for resurfacing and other projects on SR-108, SR-68, and SR-111. In Sequatchie County, SR-111 will have lane shifts and closures for sinkhole and culvert repair. Van Buren County will see utility work on SR-285 with flagging operations. In Warren County, SR-108 resurfacing will require lane closures, and SR-136 bridge repair will reduce the road to one lane with traffic signals.

**DISTRICT 29**

In Bradley County, I-75 will experience lane closures for resurfacing and interchange modifications. SR-60 widening and various utility works will also cause intermittent lane closures. Hamilton County will have nightly lane closures for the I-75/I-24 interchange reconstruction. Utility work on SR-2 and SR-321 will cause lane and shoulder closures. SR-317 (Apison Pike) and SR-39 in McMinn County will have lane restrictions for bridge construction.

Meigs County will see resurfacing on SR-68 and bridge replacement on W. Memorial Drive, causing closures and detours. Polk County’s SR-68 construction will involve grading operations and traffic signal controls. In Rhea County, utility work on SR-29 will require flagging operations.

**REGION WIDE**

Region-wide, guardrail repair, attenuator repair, pavement marking, and cable barrier installation will cause short-term lane and shoulder closures. Various interstate and state routes will be affected, and motorists should use caution and be prepared for delays.

**RESTRICTIONS**

Cumberland County’s SR-1 bridge over the Obed River is closed. Jackson County’s SR-135 is closed with a detour. Franklin County’s Old Decherd Road at Wagner Creek is closed. Hamilton County’s Moore Road and McBrien Road over I-24 are closed, along with ramps between Belvoir and Moore Road. Meigs County’s W. Memorial Drive bridge is closed for replacement.
