Registered Sex Offender Arrested for Breaking into Woman’s Apartment

Jerru Wells, a registered sex offender, was arrested for breaking into a South Nashville apartment and faces multiple charges.

A registered sex offender, Jerru Wells, 31, has been arrested following an incident early this morning in South Nashville. Wells allegedly broke into the apartment of a 70-year-old woman while she was asleep. The victim woke up to find Wells by her bedside, attempting to pull at her nightgown. She managed to distract him by talking and eventually convinced him to leave the premises.

Special Victims Division detectives promptly identified and apprehended Wells. He is now facing charges of attempted rape and aggravated burglary, along with two violations of the sex offender registry.

Wells has a prior conviction for sexual battery in Hamblen County in 2015 and registered as a sex offender in Nashville in 2018. Additionally, he has previous convictions for aggravated burglary and aggravated assault in Hamblen County.
