The Old Fort Golf Club will celebrate its reopening on Friday, August 30 with a ceremonial first tee shot at 8:30 am. CityTV will air this event live.

The Golf Department initiated a $1.6 million renovation of the Old Fort Golf Course in January 2024. This renovation included reshaping bunkers, adding new ones, and removing some existing ones. By mid-March 2024, the greens renovation began, replacing the cool-weather Bent grass with warm-weather Prizm Zoysia. During this period, the course was closed to golfers to allow the work to proceed uninterrupted.

Part of the renovation included a new driving range tee, which opened on Monday, July 15, 2024. The practice tee was relocated approximately 40 yards back to allow golfers to hit woods and drivers over longer distances. Additionally, a new drainage system was installed under the renovated bunkers to prevent standing water and washouts after rainfall, ensuring a more consistent sand surface.

The upgrades aim to enhance the playing experience at the Old Fort Golf Club, making it a premier destination for golfers in the area.
