No Evidence of Foul Play in Cumberland River Drowning

A 59-year-old Georgia woman was found drowned in Cumberland River; no foul play suspected.

An apparent drowning victim recovered this afternoon from the Cumberland River near 6002 River Road has been tentatively identified as a 59-year-old woman from Georgia. Authorities have found no evidence of foul play in the incident.

The woman was last seen walking on the property at the University School of Nashville’s River Campus, located at 1200 County Hospital Road, the previous evening. When school staff noticed her vehicle still parked at the location this morning, they contacted the police. North Precinct officers responded alongside Vanderbilt University officers. Additional components from the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), including aviation and Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) units, also assisted in the search.

The woman’s belongings were discovered on the riverbank. She had been known to travel outside of Georgia and lived in her vehicle.
