Nashville Beer Sale Time Regulations

The Metro Nashville Beer Board outlines regulations for beer sale times on licensed premises.

The Metro Nashville Beer Board has issued a reminder to all beer permit holders regarding the regulations governing the sale and consumption of beer on licensed premises. These regulations are detailed in Ordinance 7.08.140, which specifies restricted times during which beer sales are prohibited.

According to Ordinance 7.08.140 Prohibited Acts—By Permit Holders, Agents, or Employees:

It is unlawful for any beer permit holder, their agent, or employee to sell, give away, or allow beer to be consumed on any licensed premises during the following times:

– Weekdays: From 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.

– Sundays: From 3:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

However, an exception exists for permit holders covered under Section 57-4-203(d)(6) of the Tennessee Code Annotated, as specified by House Bill 1289 (2017 Tenn. Pub. Ch. 371). These permit holders are allowed to sell, give away, or allow the consumption of beer during any hours they are permitted by state law to sell or give away alcoholic beverages, except from 3:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.

The Metro Nashville Beer Board stresses the importance of adhering to these regulations. Violations may result in penalties, including fines, suspension, or revocation of the beer permit. Permit holders are encouraged to review their practices to ensure compliance with the specified sale and consumption times.
