Murfreesboro Highlights: New Skatepark, Golf Course Renovation, and More

Murfreesboro unveils new city amenities and celebrates community events in August.

Murfreesboro recently celebrated the opening of its new Skatepark and Pump Track at Old Fort Park. Mayor Shane McFarland officiated the ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the inauguration of the 12,000 square feet facility designed for skateboarding, biking, and scootering. This new addition has been well-received by the local community.

Another significant development is the groundbreaking ceremony for a new annex at Reeves Rogers Elementary School. This 4,000 square feet extension will feature enhanced security measures and a conference room for parents and teachers. The project is estimated to cost $2.8 million.

The Old Fort Golf Club is also set to reopen after extensive renovations. The improvements include bunker enhancements, green renovations, and a new driving range tee. The golf course will be available for play starting August 30, with tee time reservations opening on August 25.

Murfreesboro City Schools hosted its annual Signing Day event at Scales Elementary School to welcome newly hired teachers, celebrating their addition to the district with the same enthusiasm as athletic signing days.

The Murfreesboro Police Department’s Junior Officer Summer Camp was another highlight, providing young participants a glimpse into the life of a police officer. The event received positive feedback from the community.

Additionally, construction is ongoing for the Tennis Courts at Old Fort Park. The courts are being updated to include six new tennis courts, six pickleball courts, and a new hitting wall.

CityTV’s “In the City” program, hosted by Michael Linn White, covers these events and more. The show airs multiple times daily on CityTV and is also available on the City of Murfreesboro’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
