In observance of Labor Day, City of Murfreesboro offices, Murfreesboro Transit, and most Parks & Recreation facilities will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2, 2024. The city’s public transportation service will not operate on this day.
The newly renovated Old Fort Golf Club and Bloomfield Links will be open during their normal hours. To reserve a tee time, visit Old Fort Golf Club. The Adams Tennis Complex will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Labor Day. For the schedule of fees and hours for the Adams Tennis Complex, visit Adams Tennis Complex. The Sports*Com Boro Beach Pool will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The following facilities will be closed: McFadden Community Center, Patterson Park Community Center, Wilderness Station, Cannonsburgh Village, Bradley Academy Museum and Cultural Center, and the St. Clair Senior Center. The Parks and Recreation Main Office at 2140 N. Thompson Lane will also be closed.
The Solid Waste Department will not operate on Labor Day. There will be no garbage pick-up on Monday, Sept. 2. Monday’s garbage pick-up will occur on Tuesday, Sept. 3, and Tuesday’s garbage pick-up will be on Wednesday, Sept. 4. For questions regarding garbage pick-up, visit Solid Waste Department.
Labor Day is annually observed on the first Monday of September. The first Labor Day was held in 1882, originating from the Central Labor Union’s desire to create a holiday for workers. It became a federal holiday in 1894.

Citizens Fire Academy Accepting Applications
The Citizens Fire Academy in Murfreesboro is now open for applications, offering a four-week program from October 22 to November 12 that includes hands-on activities such as trying on firefighter gear, climbing an aerial ladder, and touring the dispatch center.
