A senior at McGavock High School in Nashville was arrested on Tuesday and charged in Juvenile Court for carrying a weapon on school property, theft of a firearm, and marijuana possession with intent to sell. The arrest occurred after a school administrator stopped the 17-year-old for possessing a vape pen.
During a subsequent search of the student’s car, school officials found marijuana and a handgun. A School Resource Officer then took possession of the firearm and ensured it was safe. The gun had previously been reported stolen on July 26 from an SUV parked on Albion Street.
In addition to the stolen firearm, authorities recovered ammunition, an airsoft pistol, 79 grams of marijuana, and a digital scale from the student’s vehicle.
