Man Arrested for Vandalizing Rainbow Crosswalk in East Nashville

A man was arrested for vandalizing a rainbow crosswalk in East Nashville in July.

East Precinct detectives have arrested Isaiah D. Tester, 24, for vandalizing a rainbow crosswalk at the intersection of S. 14th and Woodland Streets in East Nashville. The incident occurred on the afternoon of July 2, soon after the crosswalk was created to mark the end of Pride Month in June.

A tip to Nashville Crime Stoppers led to the identification of Tester as the suspect. He was taken into custody in Murfreesboro, where he resides. The investigation revealed that Tester, an employee of a vehicle window replacement company, was driving one of his employer’s vans on July 2. It is believed that he used windshield prep primer to deface the crosswalk.

Tester reportedly admitted to the vandalism when confronted by a co-worker and was subsequently fired from his job. He also confessed to the act during an interview with detectives. He has been charged with vandalizing government property.
