Fugitive Tyrone Walker Arrested in Nashville

Tyrone Walker, wanted for a 2021 murder, was arrested in Nashville.

Intelligence gathering by Vehicle Crimes and TITANS (The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings) detectives led to the apprehension of fugitive Tyrone Walker, 30, on Monday night. Walker had been wanted for more than a year in connection with the August 2021 murder of Cecil Holmes Jr., 39, in a parking lot on 11th Avenue South at Edgehill Homes.

Walker was indicted in April 2023 on charges of first-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a gun. Detectives had been actively searching for him since the indictment.

On Monday night, detectives received information that Walker was riding in a gold SUV in the Edgehill area. An MNPD helicopter crew monitored from overhead as officers successfully deployed a spike strip at the exit of a housing development on 11th Avenue South. Walker exited the SUV and attempted to flee, but TITANS detectives pursued and tackled him in a field. Walker discarded a pistol with an extended magazine just before being apprehended.

A Criminal Court judge has ordered that Walker be held without bond pending a hearing. Walker has previous convictions for aggravated burglary, felony theft, and felony cocaine possession.

The two other men accompanying Walker in the SUV were also arrested on outstanding probation violation warrants.
