Former Knox County Teacher Sentenced for Child Pornography

Zachariah Albaba sentenced to 20 years for child pornography production and attempted production.

Zachariah Luaie Albaba, a 33-year-old former teacher with the Knox County School system, has been sentenced to 240 months in prison by United States District Judge Katherine A. Crytzer. Following his incarceration, Albaba will be under supervised release for life and must register with state sex offender registries while adhering to special sex offender conditions.

Albaba pleaded guilty to charges of production and attempted production of child pornography, as per a plea agreement. In September 2022, Albaba contacted two minor boys through the internet application OMEGLE. The video communications with these boys, found on Albaba’s cell phone, showed him asking the boys to engage in sexual conduct.

The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the United States Secret Service (USSS), the Knoxville Police Department, the Tennessee Internet Crimes Against Children unit, the Kentucky Office of Attorney General, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, and the Rocky Top Police Department. HSI Task Force Agent Thomas Evans led the investigation, and Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Kolman represented the United States.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), a Department of Justice initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. For more information on PSC, visit www.justice.gov/psc. Information on internet safety education is available at www.justice.gov/psc/resources.html.
