Fatal Crash at Knight and Ewing Drives Claims One Life

A collision at Knight and Ewing Drives resulted in one death and three injuries.

A crash on Saturday evening at the intersection of Knight and Ewing Drives resulted in the death of one individual and injuries to three others, including two minors. The incident involved a Chevrolet Impala sedan and a FedEx tractor-trailer.

The deceased has been identified as Richard E. Frazer, age 48. His passengers—a 36-year-old woman and her two children, ages 3 and 15—were transported to Vanderbilt Hospital. The 3-year-old’s injuries are considered life-threatening.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the tractor-trailer was traveling north on Knight Drive and the Impala was heading west on Ewing Drive. Evidence indicates that the Impala did not stop at the stop sign and attempted to turn left onto Knight Drive, leading to the collision with the tractor-trailer. The impact struck the driver’s side of the Impala, necessitating the extrication of Frazer, who later died at Skyline Medical Center. The truck driver, aged 61, was not injured.

No signs of impairment were found at the scene for either driver, and no charges are expected from this fatal crash.
