Chattanooga Tourism Co. Launches Sentiment Surveys

Chattanooga Tourism Co. seeks community feedback on tourism impact through new sentiment surveys.

Chattanooga, TN – [Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024] – Chattanooga Tourism Co. invites both business owners and residents in the Chattanooga area to share their thoughts on the impact of tourism through the first-ever community Tourism Sentiment Surveys. In collaboration with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the initiative aims to gather valuable insights to better understand local perceptions of tourism.

The Business Tourism Sentiment Survey, targeting local business owners, is currently open. Meanwhile, the Resident Tourism Sentiment Survey, aimed at residents, will be available starting Wednesday, Aug. 21. Participants in each survey have a chance to win a package including a $100 Chattanooga dining gift card, Chattanooga merchandise, and tickets for four to over ten popular attractions.

Share Your Thoughts on Tourism Now

“Through these surveys, we hope to gain a better understanding of the locals’ perceptions of tourism and its potential impact on their quality of life. Their invaluable feedback will help us become better destination stewards, build stronger relationships with community stakeholders, and help influence decision making and policy development,” said Barry White, president and CEO of Chattanooga Tourism Co.

Recognizing the broad impact of the tourism industry on all residents, Chattanooga Tourism Co. encourages wide participation in the survey and urges people to share it with teammates, family, and friends. To facilitate this, a Chattanooga Tourism Sentiment Surveys Toolkit has been developed, containing sample copy, social media posts, graphics, and more.

To stay responsive to community needs and feelings, Chattanooga Tourism Co. plans to repeat these sentiment surveys every few years. This regular data collection will allow the organization to evaluate the community’s views on tourism and make necessary adjustments to improve tourism planning and development.

White emphasized, “Successful communities are built through collaboration, not by one person or organization. It takes the combined efforts of residents, stakeholders, and destination leadership. We are committed to working closely with local businesses and residents to create inclusive and impactful tourism strategies that benefit everyone. Together, we can elevate the Chattanooga experience for all.”

The final survey results will be published in early 2025.
