Charges are anticipated following a crash that occurred at 10 p.m. on Saturday in the 5000 block of Old Hickory Boulevard, resulting in the death of a 26-year-old passenger on a motorcycle. According to a preliminary investigation, a Suzuki motorcycle traveling northbound at high speed struck the passenger side of a southbound Chevrolet Malibu, which was turning left into a Kroger parking lot.
The driver of the motorcycle, Trevario Pillar, 29, and his 26-year-old female passenger were ejected from the Suzuki before it came to rest in the middle of the road. Pillar admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day, and a search warrant for a sample of his blood was obtained.
There were no signs of impairment on the part of the Chevrolet driver at the scene. The 26-year-old passenger was transported to Skyline Medical Center, where she died. Efforts are currently underway to notify her family.
