Water Talk: Playful Dive into Water & The Body

Join interactive sessions to learn about water and its impact on our health and environment.

The Murfreesboro Water Resources Department’s Community Affairs Division and the Technology Engagement Center are hosting an engaging event titled “Water Talk – Playful Dive into Water & The Body.” This event is designed to be both educational and entertaining, focusing on the importance of water quality and its impact on our health and the environment. Families with children from Kindergarten to Third Grade are especially encouraged to attend.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 306 Minerva Dr, Murfreesboro, TN 37130. It promises to be a day filled with fun, learning, and opportunities to become more compassionate ambassadors for our planet. The first 40 attendees to secure their seats can attend for free. The event schedule includes four interactive sessions:

– **10:00 AM – 10:10 AM: Opening Remarks and Introduction**

– **Session #1: 10:10 AM – 10:25 AM**

– Topic: Blue Waters Hydration Heroes: Connecting Water Quality to Oral Health and Healthy Bodies Talk

– **Session #2: 10:25 AM – 10:55 AM**

– Presenter: Sharon Seibert

– Topic: Hydration Station: “Bar Talk” & Activity

– Details: Explore Fruit, Mints, and an Array of Water Bar Flavorings with Snacks

– **Break: 10:55 AM – 11:15 AM**

– **Session #3: 11:15 AM – 12:30 PM**

– Presenters: Sharon Seibert, Kathleen Major Tyree (Library Manager), and Taylor Davis (Library Associate)

– Topic: Creative Water Collage Activity

– Details: Crafting with Magazines, Scissors, Glue Sticks, and Craft Paper. Each child will have 15 minutes to present and explain their creation.

– **Break: 12:30 PM – 12:40 PM**

– **Session #4: 12:40 PM – 1:20 PM**

– Presenter: Heather Bennett, Project WET Coordinator

– Topic: Understanding Our Watershed & Activity

– Details: Where Our Water Comes From, Where It Goes, and Protecting Our Streams, Lakes, and Rivers. Includes an Interactive Outdoor Water Activity.

– **1:20 PM – 1:30 PM: Closing Remarks and Giveaways**

– Details: Free Giveaways include TEC Book Markers, MWRD Water Bottles, and Choose Water T-Shirts (youth sizes/quantities limited).
