The City’s Office of Neighborhood Empowerment will host its popular Neighborhood Resource Fair on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jacob Building in Chilhowee Park, located at 401 Lakeside Street.
Admission to the event is free. Attendees who register will receive tickets for hourly door prize drawings and food vouchers that can be redeemed at the Jacob Building concession stand. Registration is encouraged before Tuesday, Aug. 6.
The fair will feature more than 80 governmental agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community groups, ready to inform neighbors about their programs and answer questions about their services.
“Imagine a kind of tradeshow for residents who want to explore the many ways they can work with local government and community partners to improve their neighborhoods and their quality of life,” says Neighborhoods Coordinator Debbie Sharp. “We are excited to host this event again and see what kinds of projects and partnerships result from the conversations that take place.”
City of Knoxville departments and initiatives present will include Parks and Recreation, Stormwater Engineering, Office of Housing and Neighborhood Development, Office of Sustainability, Vision Zero, Empower Knox, Codes, Plans Review and Inspections, Waste and Resources Management, Community Safety and Empowerment, and more.
Community groups in attendance will include American Job Center, Bridge Refugee Services, Centro Hispano, Change Center, Friends of the Knox County Public Library, Goodwill Industries, Kickstand, Knox County Master Gardeners, Knox Heritage, Knoxville Area Transit, League of Women Voters, and Trees Knoxville.
