In response to neighborhood complaints about suspected drug dealing at a home located at 2836 Clifton Avenue, Specialized Investigations Division detectives, with the assistance of SWAT officers, executed a raid on the property and searched a neighboring house on Wednesday. The operation resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of cocaine, marijuana, firearms, and cash.
Surveillance on the home showed constant foot and vehicle traffic, which led to an investigation revealing that Leonard Talley, a 64-year-old convicted felon, was dealing drugs through the front door of his residence. When detectives arrived, Talley was taken into custody without incident. The search of the house yielded 4.5 pounds of cocaine, 5 ounces of crack cocaine, 1.3 pounds of marijuana, a stolen pistol, and $4,039 in cash.
During the operation, authorities discovered that Talley was also paying the utility bills for a neighboring home at 2834 Clifton Avenue and had keys to the property. A search of that residence uncovered an AR-15 rifle stolen during a 2020 Nashville vehicle burglary, a Glock pistol, a shotgun, another rifle, a ballistic vest, and $5,386 in cash.
Talley is currently being held on a $326,000 bond, facing multiple felony charges related to cocaine, marijuana, fentanyl, and firearms. He has a history of felony convictions, including a cocaine offense in 2014, a marijuana offense in 2011, and a gun possession charge in 2013.
The Metro Nashville Police Department expressed gratitude to community members whose vigilance and reporting contributed to the successful operation that shut down an active illegal drug operation in their neighborhood.
