Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) is gearing up for the launch of its new KAT Reimagined bus network, set to start on August 26, 2024. In preparation, KAT has partnered with Transit to offer a preview of the new routes within the app.
Passengers can now preview the updated routes and plan their future trips using the Transit app. The app is free to download and can be found by searching for ‘Transit’ in the App Store or Google Play. For a detailed guide on the bus network preview, click here.

To help passengers understand the upcoming changes, KAT will host outreach events at various locations including apartment complexes, community centers, social service organizations, and Knoxville Station throughout July and August. These events offer community members a chance to learn about the new bus routes and schedules and understand how they will be affected.

“By providing a preview of the new routes in the Transit app, we aim to make the transition to the KAT Reimagined network as smooth as possible for our passengers,” said Isaac Thorne, Director of Transit. “We encourage everyone to take advantage of the app to familiarize themselves with the changes and attend our outreach events to get any questions answered.”
Additionally, Knoxville Area Transit will offer free rides for the first two weeks after the KAT Reimagined network launches. Passengers can enjoy fare-free rides from August 26, 2024, to September 8, 2024, as they adjust to the new routes.
