On August 10, 2022, the Murfreesboro City Council authorized a federal lawsuit against Republic Services, Inc., BFI Waste Services of Tennessee, LLC, and Republic Services of Tennessee, LLC. The lawsuit aims to address ongoing environmental problems at Middle Point Landfill.
The federal complaint was filed by the City of Murfreesboro to address these concerns. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a Lifetime Drinking Water Health Advisory for Four Perfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS).
