Murder Case at Nashville Wrecker Yard Solved

Indictments have been made in the case of a murder victim found in a vehicle at a Nashville wrecker yard.

The mystery surrounding the discovery of a murder victim inside a vehicle at a Nashville wrecker yard last December has been resolved. The Davidson County Grand Jury has returned a first-degree murder indictment against Jose Pablo Zavala, 38, for the killing of Orlando Hernandez, 58. Zavala was arrested in Dallas, Texas, on Friday night. Additionally, Rosa Carol Torres, 31, has been indicted on charges of evidence tampering and abuse of a corpse and is currently in custody in Wilson County.

Hernandez’s body was discovered on December 27 by an employee of a South Nashville wrecker service. His body had been hidden in the rear seat of his Chevrolet Blazer, which had been towed from 52 Tusculum Road on December 15 at the request of the landlord, who believed the vehicle had been abandoned.

Detective Kyle Eicholtz led a months-long investigation, concluding that Zavala killed Hernandez inside a residence in the 3700 block of N. Natchez Court. Hernandez’s body was then placed in the rear seat of his SUV, located at 52 Tusculum Road. Torres is alleged to have assisted in the disposal of the body.

Zavala will be returned to Nashville from Texas in the near future.
