Memphis Man Sentenced to 210 Years for Armed Robberies

Marchello Moore receives 210-year sentence for a series of armed robberies in Memphis.

A Memphis man, Marchello Moore, has been sentenced to 210 years in federal prison following his conviction for a series of armed business robberies that occurred in the summer of 2022. The sentence was announced by Kevin G. Ritz, United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.

Court records indicate that on March 7, 2022, Moore, aged 43, escaped from a halfway house and embarked on a spree of armed robberies targeting local businesses. Following a six-day federal jury trial in February 2024, Moore was found guilty of eight counts of robbery, one count of attempted robbery, and eight counts of using a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. Prior to these charges, Moore had already pled guilty to escaping from federal custody from the halfway house, where he was serving a previous federal sentence for business and bank robberies committed in 2014.

On July 17, 2024, United States District Court Judge Jon P. McCalla sentenced Moore to 210 years of imprisonment. The sentence includes a mandatory minimum of 200 years due to the severity of the convictions and Moore’s extensive criminal history. It is important to note that there is no parole in the federal prison system.

The investigation that led to Moore’s conviction was carried out by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Safe Streets Task Force, which includes federal, state, and local law enforcement personnel.

United States Attorney Kevin G. Ritz expressed gratitude to Assistant United States Attorneys Elizabeth Rogers and Eileen Kuo, who prosecuted the case, as well as the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation.
