Firefighters Rescue Bed-Ridden Woman from Apartment Fire

Firefighters rescued a bed-ridden woman next to a burning apartment in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – (July 5, 2024) Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department firefighters from Ladder 6 successfully rescued a bed-ridden woman from an apartment adjacent to one that caught fire on Thursday night. All other residents managed to evacuate the building without assistance, and no injuries were reported. Firefighters also managed to save a dog from the premises.

The fire occurred at the Park Place Apartments located in the 500 block of Maple Street and was reported at approximately 11:08 p.m. Firefighters promptly extinguished the flames and prevented the fire from spreading to other units. The apartment where the fire originated suffered significant damage and is currently uninhabitable. The residents of that unit will be staying with family members. Two neighboring units experienced smoke damage, but the families residing there are able to remain in their homes.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the MFRD Fire Marshal’s Office. Volunteers from the Heart of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross arrived at the scene to provide assistance to the affected residents.

Fire crews from Ladder 1, 2, 4, 6, Engine 3, Rescue 1, 4, Battalion Chiefs 1 and 2, as well as Safety 1 and 2, Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services, and Murfreesboro police officers responded to the fire call.
