Detectives Seek Suspect in Dollar General Robbery

Police are investigating a robbery and shooting at a Dollar General in Nashville.

Detectives are actively working to identify a gunman involved in a robbery and shooting that occurred at Dollar General, located at 541 Stewarts Ferry Pike, on Saturday at 9:20 p.m. The suspect shot and critically injured a female clerk during the incident.

The suspect entered the store and demanded money from the cashier at gunpoint. After the cashier complied, the suspect forced another employee to open a safe. While leaving, the suspect turned and fired a single shot, striking a 38-year-old female employee in the abdomen. Officers arrived on the scene and provided aid before the woman was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where she is reported to be in critical but stable condition.

The suspect is described as a black man, approximately 6’2″ tall with a thin build. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, stone wash jeans, and white Jordan tennis shoes. He fled the scene in an older model white sedan with a non-working passenger headlight. The same suspect is also believed to have been involved in a July 12th robbery at another Dollar General, located at 1801 Antioch Pike, where no injuries were reported.

Man Fatally Shot Inside Car in Nashville

Marcus D. Martin, 41, was fatally shot early today while returning to his girlfriend’s apartment at Whispering Oaks Apartments in Nashville. His car, a Nissan Altima, crashed into a tree after being fired upon and was later reported by a resident. Authorities are seeking information on the shooting through Crime Stoppers, offering a reward for tips.
