Court Halts HHS Rule Nationwide

A federal court has halted a Department of Health and Human Services rule nationwide.

A federal court has issued a nationwide halt to a rule by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti issued a statement regarding the court’s decision, expressing opposition to what he described as an illegal attempt by the Biden administration to enforce an extreme version of gender ideology on health care providers across the United States.

Skrmetti emphasized that the administration has repeatedly introduced regulations that, in his view, distort the law to promote an ideological agenda. He highlighted this case as one of several instances where Tennessee, in collaboration with other states, has sought to prevent what they consider the unlawful use of regulatory power. The court’s order temporarily pauses the rule while ongoing legal efforts continue to ensure it does not take effect.
